This Guitar Led To The Now…
I had a moment recently. I was wondering. What was the moment that got the ball rolling on this passion for creating pleasing vibrations.
This battered guitar was my very first; it looked a little better when I first received it. I was eight years old and had been playing for about six months. It was a massive moment for me being handed this guitar, it meant my Dad had faith in me, that playing wasn’t just going to be a passing fad… My Dad made this guitar for me, it has my name carved in the head; talk about an endorsement. I remember trying to play it in those early days, my little hand painfully trying to hold a F chord. My Dad telling me it was good for me and would strengthen my hand and make me a better guitarist - he wasn’t wrong.
I got better and stronger, through perseverance, through all the pain - I didn’t realise it at the time but the ball was now rolling. This guitar led to the now; learning, musical education, theory, performing, starting bands, sound engineering, ending bands, song writing, producing, sound designing; learning, improving, getting better, getting stronger.
This guitar can be traced back through everything I’ve done, every decision I’ve made. It now hangs in my studio as a reminder, as inspiration.
I can’t wait to see where it takes me next…
